A long time, a lot of happenings

It's been nearly a year since I've posted anything....in that time SO much has changed.

September 10, 2010, Nicholas & I packed up & moved from MD to TX. We pulled a big fat Uhaul trailer & drove the whole way, just the 2 of us. We stopped the first night right across the TN border near Johnson City (I think that was it) & the 2nd night in Birmingham. After that we drove on straight all the way home.

Nicholas started pre-school on September 20th. His first time in school. It's been good for him overall. The structure, the other kids, learning new things. I love it for him.

I started a new job on September 27th. Still working for State Farm. Still in an agent's office. This office is much bigger, much busier, much more work. I have my own office now & had an assistant until he bailed on me.

Nicholas had a lot of health issues. His first trip to urgent care was September 26th. Between then & mid February, he'd been to Urgent care at least a dozen times, tot he ER twice, had outpatient surgery to put tubes in his ears & his adenoids removed, he had a 4 days stay in the hospital w/ RSV, Corona virus, & asthma. He's had pneumonia 3 times, multiple ear infections, multiple strep throat outbreaks, pinkeye, & every other bug a 3 year old can catch. He was on 11 rounds of antibiotics, numberous other medications (up to 9 at a time) & had been poked & prodded so often, we were both just so worn.

By mid February he seemed to be on a good track to recovery physically.
He turned 3 in March, he's still growing tall as can be. He was about 44 inches on his birthday but he's a skinny one at only about 37 lbs.
He loves his cars, trucks, & trains. He loves the Cars movie. We went to a few hockey games & he loved it. He's been to half a dozen birthdya parties at Kiddie Park & Chuck E. Cheese's which he loved also. He loves to pull his red wagon around the yard & hit his ball of the tee. He's a strong one & can hit the ball really well & throw it pretty far.

We're living with my parents, my sister, & my niece...it's a crowded crazy house but I think he enjoys having his cousin around. I know for me, it's nice to be close to my family again.

So a brief synopsis of the past 9 months or so. Hopefully I'll keep it updated a bit more regularly.

More funniness out of the mouth of my babe

-We were reading a book, talking about the pictures & what the characters were doing in them. Nicholas puts his hands on top of his head, starts rubbing it, and says "Mommy, this is my imagination."

-Hilarious & disturbing...Nicholas has started singing the "Barney song"..you know, the "I love you, you love me"...except his song goes "I love boobs, you love boobs, I love boobs" I DID NOT TEACH HIM THIS.

-We were on the floor rolling around, tickling, wrestling and Nicholas says, "Get ready Mommy, I gonna walk on your face."

-We were singing a song and Nicholas says to me, "Mommy I gonna put tape on your mouth."

He's a sweet kid, really he is.

North Beach Get Together

We met some Mommies and little ones at the beach on Saturday. It was a wonderful fun day, lots of sun but not too hot, lots of water & sand play, lots of good times for everybody.

Here's Sara, "Darino", and me. All that mattered to Nicholas was that Marino was coming to "his beach" to play with him.

Nicholas & the ladies...Sydney, Natalie, Emily, Morgan, & Lily is just out of shot.

Concentrated sand castle building

My water baby

By the end of the day, everybody was pretty worn out and Nicholas was a bit grumpy.

A surprise gift for me.

I recently went to bed late one night, laid my head down on my pillow, & felt a large lump jabbing me in the back of my skull. I reached my hand under my pillow to find my loving son had left me a gift....a tennis ball. He's always thinking of me.

Kids say the darndest things...

At least my kid does anyway. Here's a few Nicholasisms of late.

-Nicholas asked to go to the store one evening on the way home. I told him we didn't need anything at the store that day and I didn't have money to just go to the store and buy something. So he says to me, "Mommy, we go to the store and buy money."

-We're riding in the car going through a hilly area, up & down. Nicholas says "Mommy you go too fast I want to go down a little bit." Meaning Mommy, slow down.

-And my least favorite, out of nowhere Nicholas says, "Mommy, you a pig." Then proceeds to oink at me.
